Long-stay tourists will now be allowed to enter Thailand, after Cabinet approves measure. Foreigners who intend to apply for a Special Tourist Visa (STV) should: Be a foreigner from a low-risk country wishing to stay for months in the kingdom under Public Health Ministry regulations.
The STV policy takes effect from October 1 until Sept. 30, 2021. Eligible visitors will be charged a visa fee of Bt2,000 to stay in Thailand for 90 days, then must pay a fee to renew visa.
The visa fee will be the same for each 90-day period, and can be increased to Bt5,000 for a further 90 days after the first visa expires. The policy is set to take effect on October 1, 2018, according to the gazette announcement, and takes effect until 2021.
