The Nigeria Oscar Selection Committee (NOSC) announces the entry and submission of
feature films by Nollywood filmmakers for the 93rd Academy Awards (Oscars) under the International Feature Film Category.
The chairperson of the Selection Committee, Chineze Anyaene noted that in 2019, the committee made its first submission of Genevieve’s Lion Heart which was considered for an Oscar and since that submission it has inspired the Nigerian filmmakers to be better in their storytelling and to embrace excellence.
“We were able to make our first-ever entry submission to the Oscars for the International Feature Film Awards category as a country, and the awareness this has brought to the industry as a whole has been amazing. It has opened the industry to other markets, and we hope to see partnerships with other industries soon,” Chineze Anyaene said.
The submission for the 93rd Academy Award is on and it is set to close on 2 October 2020 while the award night set to hold on 25 April, 2021.
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts has recognized the Nigeria Oscar Selection Committee to make submissions on behalf of the Nollywood filmmakers.
